The Love Song of R. Buckminster Fuller

Today I ventured out to explore the famous example of the Brutalist style in London, namely the Barbican Centre. They offer a variety of performances and live happenings, as well as housing part of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sunday's repertoire included a live screening of a documentary on architect R. Buckminster Fuller, accompanied by an on-stage music score delivered by American indie rock band Yo La Tengo (1984-present) and narrated by documentarist Sam Green. This ambitious venture was very interesting, despite the extortionate ticket pricing. It took place in the newly refurbished Milton Court, a beautiful concert hall on Silk Street, much in the style of the Guardian Press Concert Hall. Yo La Tengo delivered a fantastic mix of sounds, with a stirring climatic ending that rendered an appropriate homage to the soundscapes of Buckminster's futuristic architectural domes.
